Results were good, but not noticeably better than store bought.

Most surprising thing I learned from those experiments?

Pastrami is smoked corned beef!TruckeeDavehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11825726321011399776noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3584771362598797462.post-56840643239540237022011-02-24T14:15:14.737-08:002011-02-24T14:15:14.737-08:00Speaking of tasty, last night I took a propane tor...Speaking of tasty, last night I took a propane torch to a bunch of jalapenos, blackened them, stripped off the skins and chopped them up. Not bad! Using the propane torch keeps you from over cooking them (which makes the skins to hard to get off) and you can get a nice even burn all around. It is also fun to listen to and watch the skin pop.

I mixed in a little extra virgin oil oil too. Yum, dude!

Next up: Same technique but then smoking the peppers after removing the skin. I figure I can get away with less smoking but more smoke flavor penetration if I skin them before smoking rather than just smoking and skinning.

Yep, experimentation is the spice of life. Time for you to try another corned beef Truckee Dave.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
